Cedar Sinai Hospital. Los Angeles, CA (2012)

The expansion of this non-profit highly recognizable hospital in LA is scheduled for the summer of 2013. This 440,000 sq.ft. pavilion brings together high-quality outpatient care, innovative medical and scientific research and exceptional graduate and professional education in one facility. Cedars Sinai’s patients will be the ultimate beneficiaries of this highly collaborative environment. The 11-story structure, designed by Hok Architects, received the “Community Impact Award” and the “Under Construction – Healthcare Award” as part of the 2011 Los Angeles Business Council’s Architectural Awards.
The limestone chosen for the exterior as well as some of the interior cladding was the Jerusalem Desert honed, known for its light background, fossils and vein movement. The big stone panels of this elegant limestone complement the hospital values of warmth and professionalism, and create a nice contrast for the metal strips which are another dominant and modern element in this design.
