The Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Ma (2010)

The American Bureau of Shipping Information Commons, built on the scenic ocean side campus of the Massachusetts Maritime Academy is the art work of the talented Perry Dean Rodgers Partners Architects. The chosen material was the Ramon Grey limestone due to its soft pleasant taupe tone. The design consisted of large panels of the stone in a light honed finish, each panel having a unique detail of an oblique false joint. These joints installed one next to the other create the illusion of actual movement, similar to sailing on ocean waves being the inspiration to this spectacular design.
